What to Expect
Who is Community Church of Waterford?
First of all, welcome! We are so glad that you are interested in visiting us here at Waterford. Community Church of Waterford is a friendly church family of about 250 members that accepts people no matter where you are in life or where you’ve been…..so basically what we’re saying is you won’t find a perfect person here.
We do however strive to provide an atmosphere where we truly care for one another, by encouraging growth in your personal relationship with Jesus Christ; whether you're a lifelong church-goer or if this is your first time in a church. We strive to equip and lead Christ-followers in advancing the Gospel in the world because we firmly believe the church is the hope of the world. We believe we are called to love and serve God, each other, and our community. After all, we, the church, are the hands and feet of Christ here on Earth.
We believe the church needs to be the place where people can encounter God, hear His truth, and feel safe to investigate His love and promises. We do this on Sunday mornings through prayer, worship, and Scripture that is relevant to your daily life.
If I come to your church service, what should I expect?
At a typical Community Church of Waterford (CCW) service, you can expect to see several things:
- A live band with guitars, drums, and other contemporary musical instruments
- Praise choruses with the words projected to help you worship…we realize everyone worships in their own unique way – for many at CCW, that means singing & clapping, and for others it means quietly reflecting on the words. You’re welcome to do whatever makes you feel most comfortable.
- A message with a simple explanation of a Christian principle that has an application to your everyday life. Please bring your Bible if you have one. If you don't have a Bible, we hope you accept our free gift to you waiting at the FYI resource table. Also bring a pen to take notes -- the sermons are THAT good!
- Structured programs for the kids along with a staffed nursery
- Someone you may already know along with the friend who invited you
Generally, the entire service will last one hour. If you are unable to make it on a Sunday or want to share a message with someone, we have resources available in CD format at the Media Resource Center (located in the lobby) and also have a weekly link here online for both the audio and a link to the message on our YouTube channel: CCW Goshen.
Will anyone talk to me?
You will be greeted both as you enter the building and as you enter the worship center for the service (there you will be handed a copy of our weekly program) but we do try to meet people where they are. Some want to be left alone and others would like to visit. We want to make it easy if you have questions or want more information so if you have specific questions, please visit the Hospitality area located in the center of the foyer.
What should I wear?
Wear something in which you can be "you." There is no dress code, presets, or checklist. If you are joyful, come joyful; if you are broken, come broken; if you are apprehensive, come apprehensive, we will welcome you as you are.
What about my children?
Waterford loves kids! We have a childrens ministry called Treasureland that is offered from infancy to 5th grade. Before you drop your child(ren) off at our nursery upstairs or in our children's ministry downstairs , you will be greeted by a friendly face at a secure check-in desk/kiosk. For security purposes and your peace of mind, all of our children's ministry volunteers are screened with a background check and trained to lovingly care for your child(ren).
We work hard in our children's program to make sure that your children come to a safe, fun environment. When your kids enter Treasureland on Sunday morning, they will experience solid Biblical learning through story time, games and super fun crafts. Your child will enjoy fellowship with peers and a dedicated volunteer staff that strives each week to guarantee your precious child the best hour of their week.
Will I be asked for money?
Community Church of Waterford exists to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and see His Kingdom advance here on earth. We are a faith based ministry that operates on a day to day basis on the generous gifts of its members and friends.
This is the means by which our members make their weekly contributions in support of our ministries as we pass around an offering basket during a praise song in the service. If you are visiting with us, we don't expect you to put money in the offering, and you are welcome to just let it pass you by. Your presence alone will be a gift to God. If you consider Waterford to be your church home, we'd love for you to prayerfully consider giving to CCW. You can give by check or cash during the service or securely online through this website.
How can I get plugged in or get more information?
The church provides many opportunities for individual and church-wide involvement in ministries that serve inside our church, in our community and around the globe. You'll also discover opportunities to be involved with LifeGroups and ongoing Christian education through our Wednesday night services.
You can attend a Second Mile Class to learn what Waterford is all about. At this periodic event, you can hear our story, share your story and discover your gifts. We do this because we are not about membership, we are about partnership! You can also contact a member of the staff to find out more about areas of interest to you. Visit HERE to find out the latest information about what's going on in the church.
At Waterford, we want you to feel the love, acceptance, and forgiveness of Jesus every time you walk in the doors of this church--whether it’s a Sunday, Wednesday, or whenever! We want this to be a community where Christ is known and made known. We hope you will join us on this journey!
